Our Wedding

7:30:00 AM

Ian and I decided ages ago that when we got married it would be in Walla Walla, Washington. The town is so beautiful and it will always be special for us because it's where we met and figured out how much we meant to each other.

When we found Basel Cellars Estate Winery, we knew it was the perfect place to host our closest family and friends for the wedding weekend. Nestled on a hill among wheat fields and vines, the property provided such a beautiful backdrop for our ceremony and reception.

I got ready in the pool house of the estate with my bridesmaids and bridesman. Everybody was on pins and needles!

Ian and his groomsmen, on the other hand, were totally relaxed and goofing around.

We worked together to make our ceremony really personal. We both have musical families so all our music was played by family members, from family orchestral arrangements to an acoustic duet by my brother and Ian's sister. We were married by our close friend, Cameron, and our family members each contributed a reading, poem, or song.

Dinner was served family style at big tables in the backyard. It was so lovely to catch up with everyone, including some people we hadn't seen in a very long time.

After dinner and toasts, we moved poolside for dancing. It was a pretty hot day, so a lot of our guests actually jumped in the pool!

I held out until the very end of the night to jump walk in. Even though I had successfully avoided jumping in all night, I have to admit, it felt amazing to finally be in the cool water. :-)

There truly is no better feeling than celebrating the love you share with your partner in the company of all your favorite people. A lot of our wedding was DIY, and I had no idea how humbling it would be to have so much help and support from family and friends to bring our dream into reality.

Thank you to everyone who made this possible.
