The Most Delicious Tomato Sauce

I stumbled upon this recipe from Marcella Hazan a few years ago, and it's been my favorite sauce to make ever since.

Not only is this sauce bursting with flavor, but it is also unbelievable easy to make. You only need three ingredients: tomato + onion + butter.

I use a 28 oz can of San Marzano tomatoes and a Walla Walla onion. I think you're supposed to remove the onion from the mixture at the end, but I just throw everything in the blender for a few seconds to smooth it out a little before I spoon it generously over fresh orrechiette. Depending on the day, I might tear up a few fresh basil leaves or grate some parmigiano reggiano over the top.
